ABOUT US
Philosophy
The philosophy of the Jaguar Golf Program is based on my three I’s: Integrity, Intelligence, and Intensity.
Integrity
The desire of this program is to work with and develop young men with integrity. Since golf is a gentleman’s game, it requires that our young men display honorable behavior while wearing the Red/Black/Silver / of Blue Valley West. Integrity is defined as a state of completeness. In terms of school community, that means being to class on time participating in class activities, demonstrating respectful decorum to teachers, students, administrators, custodians, etc., picking up after yourself in lunch, turning in assignments on time, and most importantly doing your best at everything. Testimonies of successful people will always say, “Surround yourself with good people, and good things will happen.”
Intelligence
Intelligence is the ability to make good decisions. Each athlete on this golf team should know the proper course of action on every issue that could come up this year. They should be leaders in the classroom. Intelligence is also what our athletes are developing while coming to school. We expect athletes to make good decisions, both on and off the course
Intensity
High school golf is not a recreational activity. It is competitive, and each athlete is expected to prepare himself for it. It is our job to make practice uncomfortable for players. It should be mentally challenging and somewhat stressful! Playing tournament golf is that way. Often times, there is a large discrepancy between practice scores and meet scores because athletes are comfortable at practice and jittery at meets. There are certainly times and places for enjoyable, relaxing, golf, but that is not what we are about. My goal, and hopefully the players’ goal is to win another, EKL, regional and state title. Several have aspirations of being an individual state champion. Before we do this, you have to learn to compete.
